Hadi Heidari, an Iranian journalist and cartoonist, was arrested on Monday November 16.

Zamaneh has been informed that security officers arrived at the offices of the Shahrvand daily with a warrant to arrest Heydari.
The officers did not explain whether this is connected with Heidari’s previous arrest.

Heidari was a member of the now-dismantled reformist party called the Islamic Iran Participation Front and was arrested in 2010 following the widespread protests triggered by the 2009 election and the allegations of vote fraud.

Heidari has worked with several reformist newspapers including Norooz, Shargh, Jameeh, Aftab Emrooz and Bahar.

The recent arrest of five other journalists by Iran’s Revolutionary Guards has been interpreted as a silencing tactic against the media in the lead up to the parliamentary elections in March.
