Iran, where a woman convicted of adultery has been sentenced to death by stoning, is poised to become a board member of the new United Nations agency to promote equality for women.
The move has sparked outrage from the US and human rights groups. Some rights groups are also upset that Saudi Arabia, where women are not allowed to drive and are barred from many facilities used by men, is also trying to join the governing body of UN Women.
Temporary detention orders of Kaveh Kermanshahi, human rights activist and member of the One Million Signatures Campaign, have been extended for another month. Kermanshahi’s trial court began on 5 April 2010. In Kaveh Kermanshahi’s absence, the judge announced his charge as “propagation against the regime.” A source close to Kermanshahi told the International Campaign for Human Rights in Iran: “Kermanshahi’s attorney and family asked the judge his reason for extending his detention. The judge replied that he has determined the case needs further investigation.” Farangees Davoodi, Kaveh Ghasemi Kermanshahi’s mother, has been able to meet with her son only once, on March 2, 2010. Her requests for visitation with her son have been denied otherwise.
Prominent Iranian Journalist and human rights activist Emadeddin Baghi was arrested on December 28, 2009, the day after massive protests were held in Tehran and other cities to mark the Shi'a religious observance of Ashoura.
He is not known to have been charged with a crime. He is in poor health stemming from his previous imprisonment, and Amnesty International is concerned that he could be subjected to ill-treatment and medical neglect while in detention.

Once again, Master Iliya and some other members of El-yasin community were arrested illegally without any subpoenas or legal permission on Wednesday Jan 16th 2009. The secret agents of DARRM did not provide any clear reasons or any provable charges.
After his first arrest on May 28th 2007 and after spending months in solitary confinement, Master Iliya was released on a heavy three-billion-Rial bail due to lack of adequate evidence against him. At that time he faced the evil methods of demolition job against himself. Different ways of fraud, counterfeit and forgery, montage and the worst and most offences and humiliations against him made thousands of his students and advocates in doubt and suspicious but then they found themselves in a complicated secret plot which was designed and conducted by DARRM[1] .
One can see and understand the depth of this catastrophe with a glance at more than four thousand weblogs and sites on internet (emerged after an offensive weblog made by the DARRM), a look at several books which were written about Master Iliya and a look at the formation of numerous supporting centers in Iran, America, Canada and Europe, at satellite programs and films made to support Master Iliya and at the way the support seeking eyes of the majority of students who became helpless and turned to west and America…
We are a group of members of El-Yasin, the greatest NGO in Middle East with about 200,000 members in IRAN and out of IRAN, which work to reach the spiritual liberty in society. El-Yasin NGO was established in 1996 and since then it has been working officially without any political activity since we are not a political group or party.
The leader of El-Yasin NGO, Master ILIYA, from the very first activities has had many public speech sessions. The axis of his speech turned around thinking and dynamic spirituality and little by little till 2005, the number of his eager audiences grows up in a way that even the biggest stadiums in Tehran were not big enough for hosting this vast number of people.
The wonderful great speeches of Master ILIYA and the cultural products of his students during these years has caused a lot of thinking and spiritual developments among the audiences who were majority from public, the youth, university students, writers, and people of culture, writers and thinkers.
But from those very first years, some of secret departments of security offices have started acting against us. They’ve nicknamed our great Master in public issues and news papers Second Gandhi, USA Agent, Martin Lutharking, Second ring of Osho Rajnish and Krishna Morthy, Magician of 21st Century, American Cultural Leader etc.
Despite of passing 50 days from second illegal arrest and imprisonment of Master Iliya Ramollah on Jan 16th, 2009, the security agents of DARRM still do not give permission to his family visit him.
The news leaked out of 209 ward of Evin prison signifies that he is bleeding again. Last year his bleeding started when he was in Evin prison and it continued for months. It is said that the cause of the bleeding was suspicious injections.
Based on heard news, the prohibition of not visiting him by DARRM is either because of his critical health condition and the fear of provoking his students if the news spread out or it is because of his hunger strike.
The news of his bleedings worries his advocates and friends and they are very upset by the inhumane cruel measures of DARRM and there are whispers of new and proper reaction to these tyrannies.
We, members of El-Yasin, are greatly worried that his critical health condition is a sign showing his dossier has passed into an illegal and undefined stage and this can cause unpredictable reactions of his students in Iran or out of Iran.
Also in last few days, the El-Yasin official spokeswoman, Mrs. Mitra Hajinajafi, and four other members of El-Yasin were arrested. And according to recent news, they were faced with illegal acts of DARRM such as “solitary confinement”, “assault and battery”, “severe mental tortures” and “being blindfolded continually” in the interrogations.

It is more than 600 days that only because of our beliefs and thoughts, we are under the most enormous pressures, threats and tyrannies of Iranian cultural Al-Qaeda called DARRM (Department Against Religions and Religious Minorities) or religions circle of secret security service of Iran and our situation is getting much harder and more critical day after day .
It is now more than 15 days that Master Iliya (Peyman Fattahi) is arrested for the second time with 5 other members of El-Yasin Community by the order of some top clergymen of Iranian government. These arrests happened without legal permission from a judge and they were more like a kidnapping and hostage taking. As what witnesses said it was a violent attack to houses with gun fire, assault and battery. There is no news about master and two other members and it is while the situation of two students is reported critical.

Once again, Master Iliya and some other members of El-Yasin community were arrested illegally without any subpoenas or legal permission and again without presenting clear reasons and provable charges by the secret agents of DAARM[1] on Wednesday Jan 16th 2009.
Although six days past from this conspiratorial happening, which was with assault and battery, raid, destruction of houses and gunfire, and despite the continual referral of arrested members` family to authorities, no one is responsive to this happenings.
This not responding does not mean anything but irresponsibility, not being able to answer reasonably and DARRM`s inhumane measures beyond law and constitution.
